Private Road & Driveway Construction in the NC High Country

A mountain driveway is not just a strip of gravel. Cut it wrong and it washes out every spring. Ethan builds private roads and driveways that handle the grade and shed water for the long haul.

From the first cut to the final layer of gravel, Ethan shapes the road to the slope, crowns it so water runs off instead of down it, and sets in culverts and ditches where the water needs somewhere to go. The result is access you can actually drive in February.

What's involved

  • Cutting a new driveway or private road into the slope
  • Crowning and sloping the bed so it drains instead of washes
  • Culverts, ditch lines and turnouts to manage runoff
  • Base and surface gravel hauled, placed and graded
  • Widening, regrading and repairing washed-out existing drives
